Summer Bay was almost wiped from the map in 2011 when the Bay experienced the The Great Storm, on September 5th. Many residents lives were left in a dangerous condition, resulting in a lost of life for two people. During the show's first season in 1988, a rape storyline for the character Carly Morris outraged the public and a protest erupted, as viewers deemed it an inappropriate subject to be covering in an early evening time slot.

On a clear day, even in winter, it is quite a picturesque area to visit. We headed there in early July to explore and follow in the footsteps of some of our favourite Home and Away characters, most notably Alf Stewart. The beach location will have been looked up by many and is a real place - Palm Beach. Here is all you need to know about the backdrop and other locations you see whenever an episode airs. Sometimes, we forgot that there are many good places to visit that is very close to us.

Although it was initially stated that the show would continue filming, the decision was later made to halt production, despite neither the cast or crew testing positive for the virus. Furthermore, on 23 March, the show was removed from Seven's schedule to make way for extended coverage on the pandemic. On 12 May 2020, it was announced that the show would recommence production following the nine-week suspension. Storylines were rewritten to limit close contact between the actors. On 19 July 2021, Home and Away was forced to postpone scheduled filming due to new COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in Sydney. The show was already on a two-week production break, which was then extended.
The next occupants are Roo Stewart , Maddy Osborne and Matt Page . Matt's sister Eloise Page runs away from her aunt and Roo and Matt allow her to live with them. Kat Chapman and Martin Ashford move in, after Ash fails to win custody of Luc Patterson. Raffy Morrison also stays briefly, but leaves after Kat and Ash break up and Kat moves out. Kat moves back in with Scarlett Snow , until Scarlett leaves Summer Bay with her husband. But she dies in a car crash and he goes on the run, before being arrested.
Getting to Summer Bay / Palm Beach
In real life, Barrenjoey Lighthouse and surrounds are part of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Make sure you take along your own water as fresh water is not available at the top of the walk. Fight scenes, late night rendezvous, romantic first kisses, this pier has seen it all and has featured in Home and Away for years and years. In real life, it’s to the side of the Boat House Palm Beach. You can purchase ice-cream, merchandise, bait, cold drinks and fishing tackle here. Alf started the Bait shop with his grandson Ric Dalby and after Ric left for uni, he has had a number of partners over the years.

In the United States, Home and Away was first shown briefly on the FX cable network from the channel's launch on 1 June 1994 to February 1995. Over two decades later, the show began streaming on the subscription service Hulu on 2 March 2015, beginning with the 2015 season. The service no longer receives new episodes, although the complete twenty-eighth season is currently available. On 22 March 2020, Home and Away suspended production over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following his departure, Denny Miller replaced him, until her death. In 2016, Justin Morgan joins the business and became a temporary manager, when Alf suffers a massive heart attack and stroke. Hunter King is later hired to work in the shop, until his departure. Scarlett Snow works at the bait shop whilst she lives in a caravan at the caravan park. In 2020, Nikau Parata works there, but left to help out at Ben's Boards a year later.
Dean's girlfriend, Ziggy Astoni helps out with surfing lessons. This time the real-life interior was used for a number of scenes involving Adam, his sister Ricky, and Brax. The house that you pass as you walk along the beach and start the track up to the lighthouse featured Mel Gibson’s 1979 film ‘Tim’. It’s had a number of locations over the years, but is now currently situated in Palm Beach and referred to formally as the Pier Diner.
The bay is North to the New South Wales major city Sydney and is displayed to be quite remote. Yabbie Creek is Summer Bay's nearest neighbouring town where various characters either dine out, shop or take in movies. Yabbie Creek houses the police, fire, ambulance, medical, court house, major transport hubs and other services. Was owned by Amanda Vale after she inherited her late husband Graham Walters' estate.
Chloe Anderson starts working there, but was fired by Mackenzie after she gets into feud with Chloe's mother, Mia Anderson and the Parata family, and even fired Ryder, later rehires him weeks later. On Australia Day 2010 a riot took place outside the Diner, which resulted in the Diner being badly damaged by fire. The kitchen is now located to the left of the building and toilets on the right with the dining area central to the building, scenes can be filmed facing all walls as it is a 4-walled set unlike the previous set. The triple bill episodes continued to receive low ratings until the Thursday, 9 May episodes, which improved with 617,000 viewers. The following week's triple bill saw a further rise with 627,000 viewers, while the episodes broadcast on 30 May received 638,000 viewers and ranked at 7th place for the evening. The 2020 season return saw a series low for a premiere with only 548,000 tuning in.
In 2014, Denny Miller stayed since she arrived to the Bay, but left in July and moved to the Farmhouse with her family. Matt later moved to the Caravan Park after Hunter King burnt Leah's house down. In October 2015, Hunter moved in the Caravan Park after he found out his mother's affair with Matt, but in February 2016, Hunter left the Caravan Park after he confess that he burnt Leah's house, but returned.
Darryl Braxton buys into the business and helps turn it into a successful pizza restaurant. Angelo and Darryl employ Xavier Austin and Casey Braxton to deliver pizza. Darryl eventually buys Angelo out after Angelo left the Bay in 2011. Heath briefly works there in 2012, and so does Liam Murphy. Xavier left the job in 2012, Kyle started working there in late 2012.

Since 1988, Palm Beach has been the filming location for Summer Bay, it is north of Sydney, and is used for the show's exterior scenes in order to depict the Bay. Lane Cove River Tourist Park at Macquarie Park is the current location for filming of scenes involving the Summer Bay Caravan Park. It began as a small tremor yet then developed into a stronger earthquake. It caused major damage to the bay area, destroying businesses such as Alf's general store, the Beachside Diner and trapping the high school students at Summer Bay High. Their were multiple injuries, Sally recieved a concussion, as well as Chloe receiving a broken arm. Angel was left homeless after her home was deemed a right off and Alf had a heart attack right in the middle of it all.
